Learning outcomes of the course unit

A student acquires skills in problems of railway junctions. The student is introduced to the system of passenger and goods traffic in railway junctions. The student learns design of shunting yards, passenger stations, depots and storage stations.

Prerequisites

Design of railway stops, goods points and operation control points, especially railway stations

Co-requisites

Railway acts, combined transport systems, integrated transport systems and transport service in public aim.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is kept in a form lectures, seminars and individual consultations. The students' work is completed by specified individual work, work assigned for individual study with the active participation of students and students' work with LMS Moodle. Excursions to the construction sites or to manufacturers are organized.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course is completed with a credit and exam. A student answers questions regarding parts of railway junctions.
Acquisition of the credit is conditional on attendance and delivery of project of shunting yard.

Aims

The objective of the subject is to introduce students to the problems of railway junctions, passenger and goods traffic in them and to practise acquires knowledge and skills.
