Diploma Seminar (M-THD)

FAST-CJ08Acad. year: 2012/2013

The students are in the degree seminar methodically and professionally prepared for complex solution of assigned degree works subjects. Information processing from professional literature, completing and evaluation of measured data, methods of processing the theoretical and experimental parts of the degree work, interpretation and discussion of results, validation.
During the further course of time the results are separately evaluated, using published results of our workplace and of home and foreign literature and similarly is evaluated the processing of these information following the recommendations of the degree work head. To secure the unification of Institute´s demands concerning the standard of contents and formal presentation of works, the directorship of the Institute organizes consultations. The problems of technical arrangement of possible tests duplicating and of extraordinary situations, in the final stage of degree works, are solved on these consultations, including extraordinary internal and especially external consultations. Questions of organisation are discussed, especially the excursions of students outside the Faculty in manufacturing and other organizations. Organizationally are provided the external consultants and the authors of expert opinions.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The students will improve their knowledge and skills connected with problems of assigned dissertation. They are acquiring information of professional literature, studying domestic and foreign publications. They get acquainted with technical parameters of laboratory equipment and learn to work with special apparatuses. They will learn to perform independently experimental works (design and make test pieces, realize a complex of tests to determine physico-mechanical and physico-chemical properties), evaluate the obtained results and propose the further progress of works.

Prerequisites

Methodical progress of data processing, interpretation of results, application SW products for graphical work.

Co-requisites

Knowledge of Laboratory Tests of Building Materials and Components.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Students work individually under the guidance of a supervisor of the master thesis.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Pass mark: at least 90 % of the diploma thesis.

Course curriculum

1.Evaluation of obtained results in the subject: laboratory tests of building materials and components, with respect to the assignment of the work for a degree.
2.Progress of information processing from specialized literature as the part of the theoretical section of the work for a degree.
3.Evaluation methods of results obtained during experimental works.
4.Opinion on corrections of experimental works or methods of work.
5.Consultations concerning the procedures of results processing.
6.Separate consultation with regard to obtained results.
7.Separate consultations with regard to achieved results and to partial conclusions.
8.Consultations with regard to results and conclusions, internal and external from practice respectively.
9.Results evaluation, confrontation with publications of domestic and foreign literature, discussion.
