Course detail

Diploma seminar I (S-TRS)

FAST-CW06Acad. year: 2012/2013

In this subject the students apply the complex of their knowledge of subjects aimed at the technology of constructions on a particular building. In a creative form they will acquire methods of creation, calculation and manners of document modelling necessary for the construction realization and management. In practice they will prove the utilization of computer technology in the construction preparation and management.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire knowledge necessary for preparation of contractor's production execution documents. Primarily it concerns the knowledge for project elaboration for the construction site organization. Students will also get familiar with the requirement analysis of the construction resources. They will be able to make a proposal and evaluation of lifting mechanisms and primary and other secondary vehicles for building materials transfer.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge from designing and projecting of building constructions, transport construction and engineering network. Knowledge from the field of partial construction processes implementation, requirements for their preparedness before the execution, principles of technological processes of the individual construction processes, their sequence and continuity, requirements on their quality. Modeling of technology and time structure of the partial construction processes, modeling of production space and resources necessary for the construction completion, all this with the use of computer technology. Knowledge of the principles for elaboration of a construction technology study.

Co-requisites

Progressive concurrent learning of new skills from the field of partial construction processes, building machinery and the use of engineering computer programs.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The tuition takes place as regular consultations with the teacher, individual completion of the assigned project documentation and a presentation of the completed project parts.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The requirements for successful completion of the course are: obligatory attendance and regular consulting of the elaborated assigned parts of the construction technology project, which was elaborated as a part of the bachelor degree studies. For obtaining the credit submitting the elaborated parts of the construction technology project is necessary.

Course curriculum

1. Production preparation – summary structure. Basic documents, manners of computerized solution, SW.
2. Initial design development documents, computer processing of the Bill of Quantities, sales prices and production costs.
3. Technology structure of construction, time schedule modelling.
4. Time and financial schedule of the construction, basic technology stages, budgets of sources
5. Manners of the plan optimising, up-date by alteration of input conditions.
6. Modelling of the production area of the construction. Basic requirements for the site, supplying and transportation problems.
7. Optimising the areas of the site plant. In-site transportation system, requirements on main mechanisms.
8. Selection of the main lifting and assembly machines, technology and economic assessment.
9. Calculation and dimensioning of operational and sanitary buildings of the site facilities. Requirements for power distributions within the site facilities, design data for dimensioning.
10. Providing of environmental protection during construction.

Work placements

Aims

·Making the student acquainted with principal rules in pre-production, production and operational building preparation. Definition of particular tasks at processing of variant studies of the given construction for the site facilities, incl. specifying of office, sanitary and dump areas. An integral part of the work is calculation of water consumption and electric input power demand for the site facilities. Determination of the source budgets necessary for the construction for individual activities and proposal of the lifting mechanism.
