Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will master the course objective and will know how to safely and economically design foundations of structures at different geotechnical conditions. Student will have basic knowledge about specific geotechnical problems and with basic rocky properties, rock classification and with underground urbanization.

Prerequisites

Soil formation, types of foundation soils, engineering geological investigation, strength and elasticity of materials, basic principles of structural mechanics.

Co-requisites

Risks at foundation of objects, risks at implementing of deep foundation pits shoring, new technologies of special foundation methods, environmental geotechnics, computational methods in geotechnical engineering.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. The course consists of lectures and exercises. The lectures cover the theoretical part pertaining to the discussed topics. The application of knowledge gained in lectures is explained during the exercises. For a selected topic, either an expert lecture or an excursion will be a part of the course.Outside of lectures and exercises are also students can consult the subject ma

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions of credit is to develope a final credit project and satisfying attendance.
The exam will consist of written and oral part. Condition of the oral exam is a written test conditions.
