Fine Arts III.

Work with colour from the basic shades to new ones and their subsequent utilization for the area and space presentation. Verification of the variety of composition, illusive and psychological effects of colours by means of a range of techniques. Demonstration of the relation of a colour to architecture thorough objects, space and symbolism.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Knowledge of the essence of the color spectrum, mixing of colors, color harmony, color psychology, color symbolism, spatial effects of colors, usage in exterior and interior.

Prerequisites

The subject connects with the preceding semesters of the Fine Arts that focus on the presentation of space and body forms. It is a corroborative discipline for the actual studio design and computer-aided graphic design.

Co-requisites

Brief knowledge of art and architecture history.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The condition for crediting the course is min. 80% attendance and required number and quality of submitted works.

Course curriculum

1. Arrangement of colours for the determination of basic relations and a simultaneous contrast
2. Colours derived by mutual mixing and utilization
3. Black and white colours, their mixing and utilization
4. Warm shades of colour for the depiction of objects
5. Cold shades of colour for the depiction of objects
6. Full scale of colours for the presentation of space
7. Presentation of space by the water colour technique
8. Presentation of space by the chalk technique
9. Presentation of space by the colouring technique
10. Psychological function of colour in architecture – correction of space
11. Psychological function of colour in architecture – stimulation
12. Colour composition by a freely chosen technique
13. Colour composition by a freely chosen technique

Grasp of work with colour, colour composition, colour-painting techniques, application of colours in the architectonic composition.
