Learning outcomes of the course unit

After finishing the course, students are able to design an itemized budget for a contract. Students have understanding of construction process modelling; they are able to create a structural and technological network graph without violating the technological continuity. Students are able to create and implement a time plan in the pre-production and production phase of structure preparation, especially during the realization of the structure. The students are able to work with data in such a way that they can implement data from the budget and calculation system for the automatized transfer into time planning systems without having to laboriously enter the data. The students are able to transfer data between two programmes for time planning, from a highly specialized platform into a more general platform in which they are able to design their own technological standard as a basic document for the time analysis of the construction.

Prerequisites

The student should have knowledge in the area of structure technology and design at undergraduate level. The student should have mastery of Microsoft office applications.

Co-requisites

Increase of expertise in the field of construction technologies, personal experience gained during professional practise during the semester.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The basic teaching methods are: lectures with the explanation of basic principles, methodology, problems and their solutions in the form of presentations with demonstrations emphasizing critical points. Follow-up seminars focus on practical use of the knowledge acquired during lectures. It consists of individual projects under the guidance of the tutor.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The criteria for the credits require students to actively participate in seminars, i.e. regular attendance with no more than 1 absence, and achieve the passing mark at the end-of-course test.

Course curriculum

1. Application of software for building production planning and management of building operations. Joint ÚRS (main building operations and subsidiary production) and SPCM price lists.
2. Classification of production and data basis of ASPE and ÚRS system. Branch classification of building structures and jobs of road and railways constructions.
3. Budget estimates and creation of calculated quotation in the ASPE system.
4. Time schedule. Monitoring of the execution by contractor´s manager. Creation of the job list. Expenditures controlling.
5. Computer aid and modelling of construction preparation and realization in CONTEC system by means of building-technological network chart. Data links and date take over from the bills of quantities, budgets and production calculations into the building-technological designs in CONTEC system.
7. Activities in network charts. Links between activities and building readiness. Time, resource and capacity planning. Cost planning. Operative records keeping. Time schedule up-dating. Outputs – diagrams of resource demands as a basis for the site plant plan.
8. Computer aid of the links – control and inspection plan for the technology analysis and time schedule, environmental plan for other documents of the building-technological design.

Work placements

Aims

To provide the students with knowledge of application of software for building technological designing, planning and management of the building structures, utilities and transport constructions management. Computer aid enables elaboration of the bid for the execution of work, time scheduling, pre-production preparation, production preparation and creation of operative plans. Construction time and cost planning are based on data of calculations and capacity standards. A part of the execution management is controlling of the building contract.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Recommended optional programme components

Non-compulsory attendance to optional seminars related to the course, the option to attend related courses in the life-long learning programme, cooperation in building preparation projects.
