Complex design of functional systems of settlements taking into account the needs of the human community, forecast of demographic and social development, protection of natural and historical values ​​of the area. Urban and operational solutions, determination of functional and land use limits.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic practical application of the theoretical knowledge in urban studies. The acquired knowledge will be applied in subsequent specialized urban projects of urban planning.

Prerequisites

Application of knowledge and skills acquired in previous theoretical courses of architecture and urban planning.

Co-requisites

Basic knowledge of civil engineering in particular planning transport services.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Condition for acceptance of project is to pass three crits during a semester and submission of town planning design according to requested program.

Course curriculum

Week 1 to 4
analyses, reference examples, related sources, basic conception of the solution of the problem
Week 5
review of the semi-finished project conducted by a team of pedagogues and with the participation of all students in the group; correction and setting of the course of further action
Week 6 to 9
elaboration of the confirmed concept
Week 10
review of the resultant solution of the project conducted by a team of pedagogues with the participation of all students in the group, final phase of the conceptual solution
Week 11 to 13
resultant elaboration of the final form of the project and all its appendices; final review and classification

Aims

Application of theoretical knowledge gained in previous studies of urban planning, physical planning and architectural disciplines, the gaining of awareness of the essence of a balanced relationship between the artificial and natural environment and regarding the permanently sustainable development of urban areas and rural landscapes.
