Audiotechnology in English

Revision and a deeper look at grammar from previous studies, vocabulary enrichment, a focus on communication in everyday situations, basic terminology from the field of music, and familiarization with the realities of English-speaking countries. Classes take place approximately at the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student will be able to:
- translate the main ideas of normal oral and written expressions of musical practice which also contain unknown words,
- react spontaneously in a conversation on musical practice with native speakers,
- use the vocabulary of musical practice in speaking,
- express himself fluently in written form, expressing and explaining his opinion in field of musical practice,
- distinguish between formal and informal language.

Prerequisites

English language skills at the B1 (intermediate) level are required.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in Article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
- Lectures consist of interpretation and conversation.
- Exercises consist of listening to recordings of native speakers in English from the field of musical practice.
Participation in lectures and exercises is recommended.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The evaluation of study results follows the Rules for Studies and Examinations of BUT and the Dean's Regulation on the Rules for Studies and Examinations of BUT. Up to 100 points are given for the final oral examination, and it is necessary to earn at least 50 points for its successful completion. The exam is focused on vocabulary, grammar and communication skills in English in musical practice.
