Value Management is the instrument of innovations preparation and implementation. Value Management embraces Value Engineering disciplines (Value Analysis, Inverse Value Analysis, Value Design and Product Strategy), managerial activities and managerial behaviour.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will be able to after graduation: Fundamentals of effective methodical process of analysis, functional approach and modelling, as well as designing and evaluation of new solutions of technical and managerial problems.

Prerequisites

Fundamentals of organization and managerial functions of the company, understanding of importance of customer in market economy.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures consist of an explanation of basic principles, methodology of the discipline, problems and their solutions.
Exercises promote the practical mastery of subject presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for awarding the course-unit credit:
1. Active participation in exercises will be controlled and assessed by teacher – max. 100 points.
2. Successful completion of credit test – max assessment: 100 points in due term, 80 points in resit exam and 60 points in second resit exam.
3. Successful elaboration of semester work in a preset deadline. Maximum 100 points for handing over on the deadline max 80 points for late handing over.
4. Total number of points for awarding the course-unit credit has to be higher than 150.

- Customer Value.
- Functions and their evaluation.
- Value Analysis.
- Inverse Value Analysis.
- Value Design.
- Product Strategy.
- Value Management as a tool of decision - making of the managers.
- Value Management in Europe and in the world.
The seminars are focused on practising the lectured topics and elaboration of case studies (both individually and in teams).

Aims

Presentation the theory of the functional cost approach and the methods of its practical use of increasing prosperity of the firm through maximizing customer value

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Control of results of independent work on specified tasks. Excused absence from seminars make be compensated for via additional condition set by the teacher, usually via elaboration of partial written task.
