Summer Course 2

FP-Tlk2PAcad. year: 2013/2014

Students will learn to understand the issues involved in the planning and organization of courses and stays in the countryside; they will master cooperation in a small and medium-sized group. The subject is based on a stay in the countryside and selected outdoor activities, including suitable equipment for them, as well as on the legal aspects of outdoor disciplines and on gaining skills for life outside civilization.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course follows on from the subject Summer course I. The students will gain further theoretical knowledge in the field of stays in the countryside and selected outdoor sports specializations (windsurfing, inline skating, climbing); they will learn practical skills, safety rules and will be acquainted with measures for the prevention of injuries. They will gain further practical experience with, and deepen their theoretical knowledge of outdoor activities (organisation, holding and arranging).

Prerequisites

Basic familiarity with summer movement activities and stay in the countryside. Good swimmer.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Exercises promote the practical mastery of subject presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Awarding of credit:
Course attendance (50 points), knowledge test (25 points) and skill test (25 points) with the assessment "započteno" (passed, at least sufficient) or "nezapočteno" (failed, unsatisfactory).

Course curriculum

Curriculum in relation to the study schedule:
Theoretical part:
• Contents of disciplines, the present situation, including their place in the global area of physical training and society.
• History of disciplines.
• Vocabulary of terms - nomenclature, terminology.
• Equipment for outdoor sports.
• Methodology, technique, training - basics, how to start.
• Age specifics. Sports classification, competitions.
• Safety, injuries and sports hygiene.
• Organization of events, courses, training stays.

Practical part:
• Basic technique - windsurfing, in-line skating, climbing on secured trails, mountaineering, climbing on artificial walls, free climbing.
• Material and equipment for the activity - checking and preparation of materials and equipment, basic maintenance and repairs.
• Organization of groups, group management, preparation of action (program, personnel).
• First aid and accident prevention.

Active participation in lectures and practical lessons within the framework of the course. Cooperation in the dynamic flow of the course. Active leadership of a group, organization of a team, planning of daily programmes, preparation of an event. Test of knowledge and skill test.
