Selected Topics from Biometrics

The main attention will be devoted to the following topics: multivariate biometrical methods, comparisons of multivariate populations, methods of classification and generalized linear models with biometrical applications.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students acquire needed knowledge from important parts of biometrics, which will enable them to evaluate and develop stochastic models of biometric processes and realize them on PC.

Prerequisites

Rudiments of probability theory and mathematical statistics, linear models.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Course-unit credit requirements: Passing exam and preparing and defending a project.

Aims

The course objective is to make students acquainted with basic statistical methods used in biometrical applications.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is controlled and the teacher decides on the compensation for absences.
