Legislation in environmental protection

Basics of legal theory concerning environment protection, approach of countries to the problems of environment; selected international treaties, institutional treatment of environment in the Czech Republic. Legal tools for protection of natural sources, nuclear technologies, basic legal principles, nuclear safety and its impact on environment. Evaluation of influence on environment (EIA).

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic orientation in related valid Czech laws, problems of conclusion of international treaties; implementation of obligations accepted in domestic rule of laws
1. Student will know the individual, currently valid laws of the Czech Republic dealing with environmental protection
2. Student will also know all the laws of the EU in this area
3. Performs construction and selection on the basis of current legislation establishes that environmental laws must be applied to this project.
4. Become familiar with the legislation relating to construction
5.On the basis of the fulfillment of these subtasks will be able to prepare a study on the impact of construction on the environment. The study will include all valid applications to allow this building its own power point presentation.

Prerequisites

Acquisition of knowledge in branch courses focused on problems of environmental matrixes and environment protection technologies.
Required skills:
characteristics of individual components of the environment, an overview of inorganic and organic pollutants origin that pollute the environment, eco-toxicological aspects of these pollutants, methods for their detection in environmental and survey methods for the determination of low concentrations

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 1 teaching hour per week, Seminar - 1 teaching hour per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Elaboration and presentation of EIA study; graded course-unit credit is granted after successful defence of semester work

Environmental Law - general
Enactments controlling air; accident prevention; for climate protection
Block 2:
Enactments controlling water; waste management; for nature conservation; to protect land and foresty
Block 3:
Enactments controlling for geology and mining, for integrated pollution prevention; noise and energy; for genetically modified organisms
Block 4:
EU legislation
Block 5:
EIA (Law on the assessment of environmental impact); law on chemical substances and preparations; legislation on environmental damage
Block 6:
Presentation of study of EIA worked up

Work placements

The teaching of this subject are not implemented any internships. If students take part in the Erasmus mobility, there familiar with the legislation in force in this country.

Aims

Acquisition of necessary experience related to legislation of Czech Republic and EU dealing with environment.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Elaboration and presentation of EIA study; written test

Students may participate in projects and research tasks undertaken at the Institute of Chemistry and Technology of Environmental Protection FCH BUT
