Course detail

Technology of recycling of waste

FCH-MCO_ROMAcad. year: 2013/2014

The aim of course is to present basic technological knowledge about conversion and waste recovery. Course deals with following chapters: basic terms, environmental legislation, methods of analysis and synthesis of technological recycling processes, membrane processes, pyrolysis, biotechnology, bio-metallurgy, information systems. Lecture gives a survey of recycling procedures focused to paper, sludge, plastics, rubber, glass, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, construction materials etc.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The subject of exam is the verification of knowledge about secondary materials and methods of recycling. The part of exam is semester project focused to recycling of determined material. Structure of project: relevant laws of environment protection, theoretical principle of technology of beneficiation/recycling/reusing, practical example, economy, realized production/investigation, evaluation of negatives and advantages, final evaluation, references. Style: .ppt or .doc file, 10 min. of delivery, tables, figures, diagrams, plots.
