Learning outcomes of the course unit

To get knowledge of cost management in the construction company with the use of control systems.Procedures of cost planning, their recording and methods of consequent control with the implementation of measures.Production profit management with regard to the structure of the construction contracts.To acquire skills to plan production costs in the construction company, suggest ways of their evidence and control with the use of control systems. Acquiring the ability to manage costs and profits on construction contracts.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of labour engineering and fundamentals of costing and price setting in civil engineering, company finances and accounting.

Co-requisites

Technical and structural knowledge, manufacturing processesin all types of construction, financing and taxes.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures, practical classes and self-study assignments. Attendance at lectures is optional, but attendance at classes is compulsory.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Evaluation of obtained skills by written test. Successful completion of the test requires acquisition of min.50 points. The evaluation is partially supplemented by an oral examination. Assessment of skills on practices is made according to attendance, handing in and defending of semestral work on particular task “Optimization of costs in the construction company”.

Aims

To acquire ability to manage production costs in construction firm with utilisation of control systems.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Recommended optional programme components

Appropriate participation in projects on cost management and profit creation during construction production, in projects of cost management and profit-making of construction contracts.
