Department

Institute of Geodesy (GED)

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students learn how to use geodetic instrument, to determine the position of the point and work out appropriate documentation. They will learn the fundamentals of the expression of earth's surface.

Prerequisites

Handling with geodetic instruments and surveying technology.

Co-requisites

Combinatorics, measuring errors (category, features), security work.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. The course for the contact time in the field outside the school office. Students know the role of pre-and should in theory to prepare them properly.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The student has to complete the entire field training and finish appropriate report together with other members of the work team. He is evaluated according to the quality of the report.

Course curriculum

Field inspection. Establishment of control. Measurements for determination of position and elevation of control. Calculation of position and elevation of control. Detail surveying. Compilation of map in scale 1:500. Quality check of planimetry and altimetry.

Work placements

Brigade in surveying firm position fifurant, if option allows a technician.

Aims

Practice handling with geodetic instruments.
Position determination of control.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Recommended optional programme components

Getting to know the landscape, agriculture, ecological aspects of landscape and movement in it (makes it easier to move surveyor in the field and enhance their general knowledge).
