Learning outcomes of the course unit

Mastering of methodology for setting out accuracy analysis of basic geometrical quantities. Mastering of methodology for setting out two dimensional accuracy analysis of horizontal positional parameters.
Acquaintance with basic tasks of geodesy in various fields of civil engineering.
Acquaintance with standards and prescriptions for engineering geodesy .

Prerequisites

Knowledge of accuracy analysis principles. Knowledge of geodetic measuring principles.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures, practical classes and self-study assignments. Attendance at lectures is optional, but attendance at classes is compulsory.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Attendance in accordance with BUT Rules for Studies. Submission and acceptance of single tasks protocols is mandatory. Passing the checking tests in term course with overall correctness over 50%. Passing the written and oral examination..

1. Introduction, conditions for credit obtaining, fundamental terms, permissible setting out deviations.
2. Indirect slope distance measurement, accuracy analysis and practical surveying.
3. Setting out of elevation of specified object by leveling and trigonometric method, accuracy analysis, practical solution, drawing up of handover protocol.
4. Setting out of horizontal position by intersection, accuracy analysis, mean error ellipses.
5. Setting out of horizontal position by resection, accuracy analysis by standard and simulation method, mean error ellipses.
6. Setting out of horizontal position by intersection from distances, accuracy analysis, mean error ellipses.
7. Setting out of horizontal position by open traverse, accuracy analysis, breakthrough traverse.
8. Design of primary system of specified structure, setting out drawing for set of buildings, use of standards.
9. Design of primary system of specified structure, setting out drawing for set of buildings, use of standards (continuation).
10. Road design, circular arc with spiral curves, overall site plan, longitudinal section, use of standards.
