Cartography II

FAST-HE04Acad. year: 2013/2014

Editing and planning of cartographic works, map compilation, automatization of cartography cration, history and present print techniques, pattern for reproduction, non photographic materials and processes,copying.
Digital methods of cartographic creation, digitalprint, digitalization in polygraphy,legislative in cartographic production.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will manage basic theoretical knowledge of cartographic creation and production of maps. Using the digital technologies they will be able to make compilation manuscript and fair draught.

Prerequisites

Cartographic terminology, optics, theory of color.

Co-requisites

Theory of cartographic interpretation and generalization, construction of cartographic signs, scientific visualization of images.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures with presentation, expanding presentation on Moodle LMS for repetition and self study, consultations, exercise programs with individual tasks, leadership of master's and bachelor's theses.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

For completing the course should be submitted digital and analog protocols and complete control test of the exercises and successfully pass an oral examination.

2. Editing works.
3. Compilation manuscript, fair draft for map plate.
4. Copying.
5. Reproduction photografy.
6. Theoretical base for processing of print base.
7. Processing of tone pattern.
8. Type of prints, technology of offset print.
9. Digital methods of cartographic creation.
10. Legislative in cartographic production.

1-2 Dimension of objects of thematic maps.
3-4 Creation of topographic map (creation of structural sheet, transformation of source data).
5-6 Creation of topographic map (vectorization of line elements and contour).
7-8 Creation of topographic map (vectorization of area, drawings dot signs and text).
9-10 Generalization of the content of topographic map in a smaller scale.
11-12 Processing of configuration and plot files, printing.
13 Control test.
