Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students learn about the structure of itemized budget and its further division into basic and minor itemized budget. Students have understanding of the calculation formula and therefore are able to calculate new items. Students are capable of processing a budget according to basic budget rules. The student learns the skill to work with BUILpower software designed for budget calculations. Other skills acquired are the principles of network analysis, the ability to create a network graph and calculate the critical path. The acquired complex skill allows the student to create a construction technology model of the building process, the use of many different links concerning the modelling of the building process. Students learn how to work with CONTEC software.

Prerequisites

Excellent knowledge of common building process technologies, at least some knowledge of special technologies, knowledge and understanding of project documentation and its content.

Co-requisites

Principles of construction contract project management, quality assurance, solving of construction technology project, knowledge of construction equipment and their suitable use, performance of the construction equipment and principles of their productivity.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The basic teaching methods are: lectures with the explanation of basic principles, methodology, problems and their solutions in the form of presentations with demonstrations emphasizing critical points. Follow-up seminars focus on practical use of the knowledge acquired during lectures. It consists of individual projects under the guidance of the tutor.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The main criterion for credit is active participation during the seminars, i.e. no more than two absences during the course, and all the tasks assigned individually must be properly fulfilled. Students must submit an itemized budget of a given technological phase in the building process and a time plan reflected as a network graph using computer tools.

Course curriculum

1. Production classification in reference to the SW tools for cost calculation and time planning
2. Possibilities of Build-Power, Oferta, Kros and Koral system application in contracting of execution and the construction execution
3. Position type in Build-Power system in price and cost calculation 4. Linking of CONTEC program to calculation software
5. Ways of modelling of construction preparation and execution
6. Activities in network graphs
7. Links among activities – building readiness
8. Scheduling
9. Source and capacity planning
10. Cost planning
11. Financial planning
12. Link of the quality inspection and test plan to the time schedule
13. Transfer of the quality inspection and test plan into the MS Excel spreadsheet

Work placements

Aims

Providing students with the knowledge from SW support utilization for planning and management of the construction projects and modern construction organization manners by planning, engineering and supplier companies. Application of ČR and USA SW.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Recommended optional programme components

Non-compulsory attendance to optional seminars related to the course, the option to attend related courses in the life-long learning programme, cooperation in building preparation projects.
