The subject is to enable cooperation of foreign students in the training lessons arranged for the field of study “Water Structures and Management”. It is focused on recognizing and practicing of English terminology in the field of water supply.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Ability to understand the technological processes of wastewater treatment, design wastewater treatment plants, provide calculation of wastewater production and quality of wastewater and dimensioning of basic technolological stages. The capability to work with wastewater teratment plant documentation.

Chemistry and water technology, hydraulics, hydrology, design of civil constructions

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. Presentation of the recommended computational methods. Presentations of photographs and videos from real instalations of WWTP´s. Samples of model project documentations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Mandatory participation in seminars at the seminars (only allowed two excused absence) submitting examples of exercises deadlines. Written and oral examination.

Technological and hydraulic design of WWTP, technology of wastewater treatment and sludge treatment

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Study of recomended web sites of producers and suppliers of wastewater treatment technologies.
