Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course is drawn up as the subsidiary to elaboration of a diploma project.
Students acquire knowledge of compositions of steel and timber structures including of structural details and their static design.
Students acquire practical knowledge skills for design of structural elements and structures from timber and timber-based materials and their details.

Prerequisites

Mathematics, structural mechanics, elasticity, design of elements of steel structures, design of elements of timber structures, actions on structures.

Co-requisites

Design of structures.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Interpretation, individual practice of problems (individual project), consultations. Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Development of the individual project is the evaluation criterium for students.

Course curriculum

1. Project documentation: technical report, static design, material specification, drawing documentation. Arrangement of loading data and loading schemes. Basic details of a factual project solution.
2. Standard documents for creating of the project documentation and works documentation of steel and timber structures.
3. Consultations of problems of an industrial project static design.
4. Consultations of problems of an industrial project static design.
5. Overview of the project documentation of a factual steel and timber structure: drawing documentation, material specification, example of certifications.
6. Specification of basic details for individual projects.
Anchoring of steel and timber structures. Consultations of anchor design and anchoring details.
7. Consultations of a disposition solution and characteristic arrangement of the structure.
8. Consultations of individual project problems.
9. Consultations of individual project problems.
10. Consultations of individual project problems.

Aims

The objective of this subject is obtaining more detail knowledge in problem of design of metal and timber structures and to practise acquires knowledge and skills. The course is drawn up as the subsidiary to elaboration of diploma project.
