Course detail

Selected sections of building technology processes - GI

FAST-CW55Acad. year: 2013/2014

The course covers study of selected construction processes related with realization of underground constructions, building and engineering constructions. Technology, space and time structure, requirements on the site preparation, principles of execution of construction process as well as quality requirements are explained.
The substantial part of the course is aimed at execution of underground structures where technologies of special foundation of constructions for execution of excavated underground structures are given, together with overview of classical and modern tunnelling systems and arrangements, machines and equipment for underground constructions.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The students will gain knowledge of preparation and performing of selected partial building technology processes. They will be able to elaborate a project documentation of selected basic partial building processes; mainly from the geotechnics field, but also water, engineering and building structures. They will have knowledge of construction readiness of specific building processes in question. They will be able to deal with those specific building processes from the spatial, technological and time point of view. They will have knowledge of machinery equipment and the basics of occupational safety.

Prerequisites

The students should have mastered the basic knowledge of geology, geo-mechanics, construction foundation, planning of underground and transport constructions.

Co-requisites

Completing and broadening of knowledge about building constructions design

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Tuition is in form of seminars and lectures; its part is also independent work on assigned tasks. Site visits on implemented buildings are organized.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Regular attendance of the seminar and recognition of elaborated specific building process projects is required for a successful course completion

9.Additional pressure grouting and reinforcement injecting. Trenchless technologies – cutting of tunnels (drifts), shielding, pushing, micro-tunnelling, controlled drilling.
10.Principles of making the walling of bricks, formed bricks and stone. Module, technology and quality requirements. Quality control.
11.Manufacture of steel and timber structures, welding of steel structures, connecting materials for steel and timber structures, transportation to the site.
12.Main ways of the assembly of steel and timber structures.
13.Execution of road bearing structure and pavement cover.
