Course detail

Machine Design

FSI-2K-KAcad. year: 2013/2014

Dimensioning optimization. Appurtenances of engineering (especially drawing) documentation and its peculiarities from the point of view of production seriality, i.e. creation of drawings of welded, cast, forged and other parts. Complete drawing documentation of an assembly unit (lay-out drawing, part drawings, piece list).

Language of instruction

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The subject “Machine Design” provides students with knowledge and skills necessary for working out a complete drawing documentation of an assembly unit. Great emphasis is placed on ensuring function and interchangeability considering the manufacturing technology of individual elements. The students learn, when working out the drawing, how to apply the peculiarities of these elements resulting from their production seriality. Possibility of graphic editors utilization.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the appurtenances of component drawings.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is intended for the combined form of study, indivudual work of students is directed by lectures and exercises taught en bloc.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: attendance at seminars and obtaining min. 50 points (of 100) for graphic projects (max. 54 points), tests (max. 36 points) and elaboration of exercises (max. 10 points). Final classification according to ECTS.

Aims

The aim of the course “Machine Design” is to make students familiar with the process of working out the drawing, where a semi-finished product is represented by cast or forging, and to acquaint them with elaboration of drawing documentation for welded structures. Another goal is the creation of a complete drawing documentation of an assembly unit. The students should extend their knowledge and acquire skills necessary for creation of part drawings considering production seriality, as well as complex elaboration of the drawing documentation.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is checked. It is not necessary to compensate for absence from max. two lessons.
