Introduction to University Study

The course is focused on the following areas:
- A general overview of the workings of libraries and their work (domestic and foreign), including services plus orientation in the services libraries they provide.
- Skills needed necessary for effective work when searching for information (EIR, www).
- Working effectively with technical literature, proper use of external resources
and quotations according ISO 690.
-Working with searches and annotations.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student will:
-Acquire basic knowledge about of the workings of libraries and their work (domestic and foreign),learn about the possibilities and varieties range of services provided by libraries, and acquire develop basic skills needed necessary for use of the library services.
-Learn how to look for information effectively.
-Learn how to work with EIR and other information resources.
-Learn how to work with literature, use direct and indirect quotations and quotations according ISO 690.
-Work with searches and annotations.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge corresponding to the level of a school-leaving final examination at secondary school.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is setup on e-learning form of study in the Moodle system. It is divided into ten chapters that explain the basic concepts, principles and methodology of the discipline.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit is conditional on successful completion of of the final test in the form of e-learning and the development of ongoing tasks.

Aims

The aim is for students to:
-Aacquireing basic knowledge of about the workings of libraries and their work, the possibilities and varieties range of services provided by which libraries, and develop provide together with acquiring basic skills needed necessary for their use.
- Familiarise themselves with obtaining current standards applied when for working with professional text
- Learn to working with electronic information resources (EIR).
- Learn how to evaluating information gathered from the Internet.
- Learn how to make review and annotations
