Environmental Management

The course deals with macroeconomic and microeconomic aspects of the environment - sustainable development indicators, strategies for sustainable development in the EU and the Czech Republic. The main emphasis is on voluntary environmental tools and their applications in business conditions (environmental management systems EN ISO 14000), cleaner production, life cycle assessment and product LCA and environmental Business economics (environmental management accounting, environmental costs, accounting for sustainable development) reporting.

Students profit by theoretic knowledge from areas environmental management.

Students are expected to have general economic knowledge.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures consist of an explanation of basic principles, methodology of the discipline, problems and their solutions.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Knowledge is verified by a written examination. For the written exam the student receives two questions based on theoretical lectures. There is classification according to the grading scale ECTS max score: 60 points.
There is team project, max. Score: 30 points
Active participation at seminars: 10 points

1. Introduction. Voluntary instruments environment.
The concept of environmental management-EN ISO 14000 and EMAS I, II, III.
Implementation of the enterprise EN ISO 14000-A practical example.
2. Cleaner production – practical example.
3. Method of Life Cycle Assessment-LCA-practical example.
4. Eco-labeling, environmental claims II, III type - a practical example.
6. Environmental reporting.
7. Presentation of projects.
8. Presentation of projects.


Seminars:
1. Requirements of the credit. Case study standard ISO 14 000
2. Case study of the implementation of LCA in the company.
3. Case Study of Eco-label.
4. Case Study - Assessment of the impact on the environment EIA.
5. Test. Presentation of team projects.
6. Presentation of team projects.

Aims

Goal object is give to students basic knowledge about ecological aspects.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

There is during presentations from the field of environmental management and the defense of the team project at the seminars. In the case of excused absence from seminars, teacher in justified cases set a alternative task.
