The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.

1. Structure of atoms, crystalography, imperfections in structure of materials
2+3. Mechanical properties of materials - characteristics and its material backgrounds
4+5. Introduction to thermodynamics, diffusion and kinetics

8. Diagram Fe – Fe3C and Fe – C (grafit)
9. Solidification and phase transformations in solid state
10. Metals
11. Advanced ceramics
12. Advanced polymers and plastics
13. Composites
