Russian for beginners

Topics - introducing, greetings, phoning, basic information about myself, nationalities, on a visit, family.
Phonetic and graphic side of language - russian alphabet, accent, intonation, pronunciation, spelling.
Grammar – addressing, numerals, conjugation of verbs, basic paradigms of nouns, personal and possessive pronouns, reflexive verbs, verbal phrases.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will accomplish the basis of Russian, i.e. written and spoken Russian alphabet, basic vocabulary and basic grammatical features. Then they will be able to read, translate and make very simple Russian texts. Students will be able to discuss the following topics - introducing, greetings, phoning, basic information about myself, nationalities, on a visit, family. Students will be familiar with the phonetic and graphic side of the language, i.e. Russian alphabet, accent, intonation, pronunciation, spelling. Students will master basic Russian grammar – addressing, numerals, conjugation of verbs, basic paradigms of nouns, personal and possessive pronouns, reflexive verbs, verbal phrases.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Grammar and vocabulary is practised in an interactive way, with emphasis on conversation. Development of communication and listening skills using interactive audio-visual technologies.
LMS Moodle and Smartboard.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

In order to receive their credits, students need to attend classes regularly (max. 3 absences per semester), do homework and actively participate in the lessons.

Aims

Mastery of elementary Russian, which means Russian alphabet in both written and spoken form, basic vocabulary and grammar. The ability of reading, translating and making very simple texts.
