Learning outcomes of the course unit

Overview of ecological engineering problems. Detailed knowledge of passive buildings, brownfields, public spaces, ecological architecture topics. Basic knowledge of landscape ecology. Ecological stability. Impact of mining on landscape and landscape restoration. Model projects of river restoration in urban environment.

Fundaments of natural sciences

Brownfields, ecological stability, territorial systems of ecological stability, alternative energy sources use, sewage water treatment

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Introduction to presentation topics. Power Point presentations of the lecturer and of the invited specialist, following discussions with the students.
Power Point presentations of the students on selected topics. On-line tests on selected topics.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

For a successful finishing of the subject, student has to:
- be present in seminars,
- have presentations of selected topics from ecological engineering and
- hand over his presentations.
