Learning outcomes of the course unit

Extending knowledge in the field of deep foundations and deep excavation. Possibility of improvement subsoil by stone columns and deep soil mixing for building construction. Design of reinforced soil walls. Technological and design aspects injection of soils, especially jet grouting. Students completing the course will learn the detailed design of geotechnical structures in the field of building construction including drawings.

Prerequisites

Types of foundation soils, properties of soils, limit states theory, basic principles of structural mechanics, theory of strength and elasticity, structure design, basic knowledge of the design of foundation structures and of the design of foundation pit sheeting.

Co-requisites

Design of concrete and steel.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The presented topic is practiced on a project involving the individually discussed. Part of the exercise takes place in a classroom PC - application software for the solution of the problem. Work is in a group of two or three people. Project is closed oral presentations.

Generally - teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
