Urban Design and Town Planning

Urban planning, development of landscape and settlements - typology and configuration. Enhancement of fundamental knowledge about urban and landscape planning as a study requirement for the profession of accredited civil engineers that will be able to design buildings in a compliance with architectural planning demands for urban or rural districts.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Mastering basic knowledge of urban issues, understanding urban typology; basic knowledge of legislative and administrative context of urban planning, understanding of the planning process

Prerequisites

the ability to know the ropes in building law, basic survey over the history of architecture and civil engeneering

No concurrent knowledge required regarding this subject.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures, practical classes and self-study assignments. Attendance at lectures is optional, but attendance at classes is compulsory.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graphical exercise and written test are needed to successful complete the course.

Introduction to fundamental principles of landscape planning, processing and approval of planning documentation, functional urban and landscape systems, creation of preconditions for tenure of authorized civil engineer profession.
