Learning outcomes of the course unit

Overview of ponds and small water reservoirs subject, knowledge of directives, the ability of designing ponds, knowledge of construction principles in the process of designing. The concept of possible faults of the pond dams, overview of the major mistakes in designing and the removal them.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of hydraulics and water management solution of reservoirs including transformation function.

Co-requisites

Water utilization planning of reservoir, pedology, hydrology, hydraulics, earth dams, spillways, flood routing.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. In this course, students will be introduced with the use of automated design (program Civil Power).

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Active participation in seminars and lectures, the examination and delivering the results of seminars according to terms of project. Active cooperation in the project. Active approach to the solution during the consultation process.

2. Basic knowledge of fish pond management, carp fading
3. Selection of a small reservoir location
4. Fundaments for design, valid regulations, surveys
5. Water management solution of small water reservoirs
6. Layout and technical solution of small water reservoirs
7. Dams - types, construction principles
8. Outflow facilities - design, types, construction principles
9. Safety spillways - design, types, construction principles
10. Energy absorption
11. Regulation of river channel under the reservoir, bottom arrangement and finishing of reservoir surrounding
12. Operation and service regulations of small water reservoirs
13. Reconstruction of small water reservoirs, mud removal, faults of the pond dams, course of construction.

Overview of ponds and small water reservoirs subject, knowledge of directives, the ability of designing ponds, knowledge of construction principles in the process of designing.
