Mechanization and realization of railway structures

Construction of transport structures, fundamentals of track technologies. Construction demands and parameters of track machines. Hand-held equipment for maintenance of rails, sleepers, rail fastening, for justification geometry components and track alignment, other hand-held equipment.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

A student is introduced works, which is comonly used in railway tracks. The student acquires knowledges about mechanisms used during these works. The student also acquires do technological procedure of works. The student is also introduced in maintanance of ralway tracks. The student is introduced in reneval and maintanance of switches and crossings too.

Prerequisites

Basic terms, division of railway structures, track alignment design parameters and its spatial positions – basic terms, railway track design, subdivision and construction of rail substructure and its construction layers

Co-requisites

Concrete bridges, steel bridges, tunnels

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is kept in a form lectures, seminars and individual consultations. The students' work is completed by specified individual work, work assigned for individual study with the active participation of students and students' work with LMS Moodle. Excursions to the construction sites or to manufacturers are organized.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course is completed with a credit and exam. Acquisition of the credit is conditional on attendance, delivery of a design of technological procedure of works of particular track section.
Exam is practical verification knowledges of commonly used machines and technological procedures of works.

Aims

The objective of the subject is to introduce students to the problems of construction of transport structures, fundamentals of track technologies, machines, measuring and diagnostic systems and to practise acquires knowledge and skills.
