Computer support in construction preparation and realization I

FAST-CW19Acad. year: 2014/2015

Transfer of the contract calculation by means of a „technology model“ into the environment of the network planning program. Operative production and management. Continuous assessment of expenditures and resources. References to the links to the files for quality assurance, environmental management and occupational safety management in the information system of the executing company.
MS-Project application based on the spreadsheets of assignment and summary output reports. Application of calculation data files in RTS-Build Power, or program system for planning and management of the building constructions. Planning and management of the building operations in building operations management (RSV) system in the link to KROS Plus and MS-Project. Practical demonstrations of RSV system application in the area of transport constructions.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

After completing the course students have understanding of the processes involved in construction company management. Students learn to work with additional SW tools for the preparation and building implementation – ASPE and RSV. With the aid of these systems, students are able to deal with the preparation of the construction contract, their variants, budgetary process, calculations and time schedules. Students are also able to deal with implementation processes including financial control of the economic results. Students also have understanding of building implementation documentation, are able to create an inventory of the works performed, protocols and invoicing.

Prerequisites

KnoKnowledge of the rules for budgeting, good knowledge of construction technologies, knowledge at user level of office tools.

Co-requisites

General principles of planning and management, management skills, management and organization of work on the site, construction participants, cooperation of construction participants, contracts.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The main teaching method is lectures where basic principles, methodology, model problems and their solutions are presented in the form of presentations. Follow-up seminars focus mainly on practical tasks performed with the aid of computers.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

For the successful completion of the course, students must actively participate in seminars. No more than 2 absences are allowed throughout the course. During the credit week, the students will be given tasks to solve with the use of software ASPE and RSV. The course is completed by passing the final exam.

Course curriculum

1. Classification of building production. Budget and calculation software (Build Power, KROS Plus) – securing of input data for time scheduling and building operations management systems.
2. Analysis of the item and technology-organizational options. Creation of a new item or option for the purpose of building operations innovation.
3. Building operations planning and monitoring systems with regard to the building company structure and software equipment.
4. Creation of the program in RTS-Build Power. Transfer of Calculation, Costing, Budget or Calculation. Technology structure.
5. MS PROJECT – modification of „Tasks“ and „Resources“ spreadsheet parts at construction planning and control. Outputs of results and cost estimates.
6. Management of the execution of building structure unit by MS PROJECT system. Demonstration of „transportation – storing – erection“ organization at construction of assembled reinforced concrete frame.
7. Technology model for building operations management systems (RSV) and its solution according to the sales and production calculation.
8. Plan of resource needs, transfer of the material, jobs and mechanisation limits into the construction time periods.
9. List of performed jobs, evaluation of expenditures and resources (planned – actual).
10. Construction documentation files incl. changes of construction before its finishing, quality documents creation and records keeping. Demonstration of RSV in construction projects in transport engineering.
11. Hypertext references in MS-PROJECT system to „Quality controls and inspections“, „Environmental management“ and „Occupational safety and health protection at work “ files. Summary information and expected development of software support in terms of international construction projects.

Work placements

Aims

To get knowledge of software aid in construction process planning and monitoring in an integrated company management system. The knowledge should enable individual applications and solution in line with supposed allocation of the student on site in practice.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Recommended optional programme components

Non-compulsory attendance to optional seminars related to the course, the option to attend related courses in the life-long learning programme, cooperation in building preparation projects.
