Work Safety in Electrical Engineering

Subject Safety of Work in Electrotechnics allows getting knowledge of rules, instructions, stipulations and basic electrotechnical regulations and standards in the field of work safety in electro engineering and it will prepare the students for an exam of work safety in compliance with regulation ČÚBP and ČBÚ No. 50/1978 Coll. on professional competence in electro engineering. After successful passing of the exam, the graduates will be qualified as employees for independent activity.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

This subject will get students to independent work on electrotechnic arrangements in light of safeness before injury electric streaming and pertinent providing first aid at injuries electric streaming. Students also will learn recognize problem and risk situation associated with electric equipment.

Prerequisites

The subject requires only basic knowledge from physic, electrical engineering and human anatomy. Are necessary piece of knowledge about leading of current and his effect on human organism.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for getting a course-unit credit: finish of at least 75% of the exercise and and elaboration of engaged work.
Exam: The exam checks knowledge of basic information needed for performing independent activities on electrotechnical devices and it is required from graduates in practice. The exam is written and oral, in the presence of a commission. The assessment is: passed or failed. Based on the knowledge proved during the examination, the student is appreciated mark.

Aims

The aim of the course is to prepare the students for exam as per regulation ČÚBP and ČBÚ No. 50/1978 Coll. and so – after successful passing of the exam – to get electrotechnical qualification of employees authorised to work independently in electrotechnics, as needed for independnt work with electrotechnical equipment in practical activities of the graduate.

The lessons are not obligatory. Missed lessons are not compensated, missed topics are completed on the basis of independent studies.

1. Selected provision of Labour Code No. 65/1965 Coll. in validity version (safety and protection health at work).
2. Information on regulation ČÚBP and ČBÚ No. 50/1978 Coll. on professional competence in Electro engineering.
3. General information on protection against injuries caused by electric current.
4. Basic terminology. Causes of creation injuries by electric current. Methods of protective a persons and goods.
5. Protective and work aids. Covering of electric devices.
6. Types of environment from the point of view of their effects on electric devices and their settings.
7. Electrotechnical laws for indoor electric distribution system, methods of connection of electric devices.
8. Electric circuits and consumers protection. Protection devices.
9. Electric equipment of work machines. General stipulations, securing the circuits and appliances.
10.Instruction for performing revisions of electric appliances. Revision of portable manual tools, their classification into classes and terms for revisions.
11.Safety laws for attendance a work in experimental spaces.
12.First aid in case of injuries caused by electric current and the progress of rescue works.
13.Reducing of danger fire creation by electric equipment.
