Computer Visualization - 3DS Max

In the course "Computer Visualization - 3DS Max" are deepened knowledge gained from previous studies. Students will become familiar with the environment of Autodesk 3DS Max. Within semester projects will address the creation of visualization, animation and texture mapping.
The course is taught in English.

The course has been created with the support of the OPVK project. "The Studio digital sculpture and new media project", reg. No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0278, is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course „Computer Visualization - 3DS Max“ concures to preview courses (in the B-PDS studies) and intensify knowledge at the domain of 2D and 3D graphics. Anew it is focused on animations creation. Student is able to create an interactive-multimedial presentation and visualization of his/her own project.

Prerequisites

The course complements the bachelor study courses „Computer Graphics - Photoshop, Ilustrator, InDesign“, "Computer Modelling - Rhinoceros 3D" and "Computer Modelling - Cinema 4D, Flash". The elements of work and knowledge of working with the CorelDraw, Rhinoceros 3D, Maxon Cinema 4D, Autodesk 3DS Max, Adobe Flash etc. softwares are supposed.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: attendance in lessons, meeting assigned projects deadlines, practical test verifying the knowledge of work with the software and creative work ability.
Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on projects, tasks and a test. In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale.
If some of the projects as well as a test are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed".
According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 - 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 - 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 - 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 - 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 - 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 - 0 / 4 / Failed.

Aims

The course is an advanced mastering Autodesk 3DS Max. Students will be able to create complex polygonal 3D models, edit, texture mapping, to present their 3D proposals by animation and photorealistic visualization. The second half of the course is to learn the basics of film postproduction and become familiar with tools for editing animation aimed on the presentation of design proposals.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The attendance in lectures is recommended. The attendance at seminars is controlled. Students have to be present in scheduled hours in the computer laboratory, work on given projects and wait for consultation, unless a lecturer gives other individual plan. The excuse of absence is possible only due serious reasons such as illness. Unexcused absence may jeopardise awarding the graded course-unit credit.

2nd advanced modifiers, composite objects warp space objects

5th materials, special types of materials, Multimaterial, shaders
6th tools to compose a scene - the transparent shadow (shadow Mate), atmospheric effects, depth of field, camera properties
