German for Beginners 2

The course is intended to teach German as the second foreign language at general level. It is focused on practical, everyday communication for the international workplace.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be made familiar with general vocabulary for the workplace and simple grammar for everyday communication.

Prerequisites

Course is intended for beginners or false beginners who attended and successfully completed the course “German for Beginners” in the previous semester. The course follows up on the knowledge of grammar and vocabulary acquired.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Exercises promote the practical mastery of the subject presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having attended the seminars actively and worked out all assigned tasks for self-study. Students have to pass a credit test reaching 50% points as minimum.

- Pronunciation,introducing, personal pronouns
- Numerals,regular verbs, verb SEIN
- Personal questions, word order in questions and positive sentences,plural
- Countries and towns, the alphabet,expressing the negative
- Obtaining information,definite and indefinite articles and pronoun KEIN,possessive adjectives
- Family and relatives,subject and object case of indef. article,adjective suffixes after indef. article
- Rooms and furniture,object case - def. and indef., article,possessive adjectives,personal pronouns
- Sightseeing, shopping,plural, expressing measure, amount and price, nein, nicht, kain
- Semester test

Aims

The aim of the course is to equip students for real-life tasks, such as describing problems or giving instructions, that arise in a wide range of economic occupations.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is systematically checked by the teacher. Absence may be in justified cases compensated for by the agreement with the teacher.
Direct teaching:

Indirect teaching:
- Self-study related to the 1st part 30 hours
- Self-study related to the 2nd part 30 hours
- Preparation for the credit test 8 hours
