Complex solution of theoretical and practical tasks of risk engineering (technical risks of building structures), including a discussion of the role. The solution of theoretical problems (risk assessment, determining the rate of failure, risk catalogue) as well as practical problems (diagnosis of buildings, the draft measures, selection of less risky solution). The project will be studied in the framework of specialization and according to student interest in the following main areas: Concrete structures, metal structures, Reliability of structures (structural mechanics modelling and supporting structures), Diagnostics of structures, earth structures.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will gain the ability to solve theoretical problems (risk assessment, determining the rate of failure, risk catalogue) as well as practical problems depending on the chosen topic.

Prerequisites

It requires a basic knowledge of structural mechanics of objects, design objects for designing structures made of various materials according to standards of the EC and the basics of risk engineering.

Teaching is carried out through seminars that particularly support practical mastery of subject matter presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.
