The course is aimed at enhancing professional knowledge and skills, improving individual creative work, applying basic scientific methods, knowledge, methodology and theory of composing the diploma thesis, leading to writing of the thesis, incl. present and defending the results and conclusions resulting from it.
Therefore it is not only about enhancing students' knowledge in search of information resources, literature, information retrieval, correct citations, but also about planning the entire process of thesis and familiarity with the principles of both the formal and the content and level of the work. To acquaint them with the latest knowledge and learn the principles of effective creative work.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to process a diploma thesis in the required quality, including the analysis of the latest theoretical knowledge based on information retrieval by domestic and foreign sources, identifying key problems solutions, critical design analysis and its application to the solution of the problem, incl. the plan and conduct their own research and analysis of potential options problem solution, draw conclusions based on the obtained results, incl. their interpretation, presentation and defence.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is carried out through seminars that particularly support practical mastery of subject matter presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of VUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
It is also necessary to meet these requirements:
participation in seminars, regularly reviews of the DT assignments in progress (create a DT project, problem definition, objectives, methods and solutions, research of domestic and foreign sources, critical analysis of the current status, results processing and design troubleshooting).

Course curriculum

The course is designed for independent creative work of students on the diploma thesis under the supervision of the teacher in the exercises (the number of hours for the relevant semester). Regular consultations and verbal evaluation of progress of assignments are part of this course.
