Term Project

ÚSI-2ICSPAcad. year: 2015/2016

Students will receive an individual project specification from various computer science areas in order to work them out individually under the supervising of some skilled leaders. Students will proceed as follows: problem analysis, solution, verification, implementation, documentation, presentation. During their work, the students will follow all the required instructions concerning requests on contents and volume of the project, the project adjustment, the literature, the language quality and written report typography as well as project parts consigned in the electronic form. The course is successfully completed when the written report and realized project outputs are given to the departmental committee (consisting of pedagogues from the Faculty of Information Technology, Brno University of Technology).

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire knowledge and experience at creating individual engineering project and its documentation. Then they must be able to successfully defend it.

Prerequisites

Students continuously monitor the latest information and instructions on the subject “Term Project” provided by the Faculty of Information Technology, Brno University of Technology, and they follow published information and instructions. Activities can be summarized as follows: Consultations with student's supervisor, developing and submitting a written technical report along with realized project outputs no later than the announced deadline (beginning of the examination period after winter semester), and the defence of written technical report before faculty committee (first half of the examination period after winter semester). The course is completed via classified credit, therefore no alternative terms of defence are allowed.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is carried out through seminars and projects. It is a way of teaching where the emphasis is on individual student work. Important parts of the teaching are presentations of individual works and critical discussions.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Defence of a project, written technical report and realized project outputs with a minimum of 50 points.

Course curriculum

Work on the project according to specifications and additional guidance from consultations with the supervisor.

The fundamental goal of this course is to support the individual creative student work during the engineering project solving, its formal description, and defence.
