Master´s Project

ÚSI-2IDDPAcad. year: 2015/2016

Students will receive individual project specifications from various computer science areas (mostly students continue in work that was started in the course „Term Project“) in order to work them out individually under the supervising of some skilled leaders. Students will proceed as follows: problem analysis, solution, verification, implementation, documentation, presentation. During their work, the students will follow all the required instructions concerning requests on contents and volume of the project, the project adjustment, the literature, the language quality and written report typography as well as project parts consigned in the electronic form. Complex output of the course „Master´s Project“ includes technical report in the form of master´s thesis, which is defended in front of the examination board at the end of the study.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire principles of creating individual engineering project and its successful defence.

Prerequisites

The course ”Master´s Project“ belongs to the last study semester. Students continuously monitor the latest information and instructions on the subject “Master´s Project” provided by the Faculty of Information Technology, Brno University of Technology, and they follow published information and instructions. The compulsory prerequisity is to be successful in the course „2ICSP – Term Project (provided by the Faculty of Information Technology – Term Project)“.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is carried out through seminars and projects. It is a way of teaching where the emphasis is on individual student work. Important parts of the teaching are presentations of individual works and critical discussions.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Students will present the results of their master´s thesis and respond to the questions from the opponent of the thesis and members of the final examination commission. Assessment of the thesis and realized project outputs is the full responsibility of the commission, which takes the supervisor´s and opponent´s evaluation of the thesis into account.

Work on the project according to specifications and additional guidance from consultations with the supervisor.
