Knowledge Management

The course focuses on explaining the basic theoretical concepts related to the management of knowledge and its practical application in the company. The emphasis is on obtaining, using, storing and sharing knowledge. The issue of knowledge management is handled separately. First, it focuses on the description of knowledge management environment outside the organization (knowledge-based economy, knowledge society, learning region) and subsequently within the organization (knowledge organization, learning organization, knowledge strategy, market knowledge, knowledge worker, tools and knowledge management). The course also provides basic information on the integration of knowledge management with other managerial disciplines, such as with design, innovation, operational, stress and time management.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

After studying this module students should be able to:
a) Understand the complex range of knowledge management.
b) Apply methods of getting of knowledge for management of company.
c) Apply knowledge as a support of management decision making.
d) Apply the principles of knowledge management in a company.
e) Apply methods and tools of knowledge management.

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have the following knowledge and skills: Management (function of management), Strategic management (SLEPT analysis, Porter model, SWOT analysis).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Seminars are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

For completion of the course the following conditions:
Credit: Successful completion of the semester project within the specified deadline and its presentation.
Exam: Successful completion of written exam. Where appropriate oral exam.
