Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course ‚Transport and handling equipment‘ will enable students to gain the basic knowledge about the development of the branch. In addition, students will be made familiar with soluations of some typical structural construction nodes and mechanisms. The acquired knowledge will help them with the appropriate selection and design of transport machines.

Prerequisites

Students are required to have basic knowledge of technical mechanics, physics, higher mathematics, machine parts and their mechanism, physics of materials and principles of electrotechnical engineering.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course-unit credit: Attendance at seminars. The presentation of all solved problems. – Exam: The verification of the knowledge by an oral exam.

Aims

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the meaning of materials handling in manufacturing and storing. Students will learn of typical representatives of manipulation and storing facilities, such as container cranes, shelf stowing machines, lift trucks, trolley cranes, conveyers and service lifts.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is obligatory, recorded by the teacher. The way of compensation of missed lessons (in justified cases) in solved individually with the subject provider.
