Course detail

Construction of Production Machines II

FSI-G2S-KAcad. year: 2015/2016

The course in Construction Of Production Machines II is focused on the presentation of the latest constructional trends in the field of machining and forming machines. Students are acquainted with principles of a design of production centres and integrated production divisions. The course also focuses on production machines for machining, metal forming. In the branch of forming machines it focuses on high press moulding of metals and extrusion thermoplastics, termosets and polymer matrix composites. It presents production machines for small-lot production technologies. Students will also learn of legal aspects of a constructional activity.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire sufficient knowledge of technological principles of machining, metal forming, extrusion, and forming of thermoplastics, termosets, ceramics and polymer composites. They will knows functional principles of basic representatives of production machines for these technologies. They will be able to analyse and use acquired information in the branch of design machines. They will be aware of legal aspects of constructional activity from the point of the patent law, national technical rules, safety requirements, ecology, quality management, the commercial law and other acts and rules relating to the production of machines in the framework of a legislation of the CR and EU.

Prerequisites

Students are assumed to have the knowledge of theory and technology of machining, forming, founding, welding, mounting and surface finish. They should know general basics of the construction of production machines, basic methods for computation parts and mechanisms of machine, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and basic application of servodrive and electromotors. They are supposed to know physical, static, kinematic and dynamic rules. Knowledge of stress analysis. Basic knowledge of mechanization and automation.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The examination is written and oral. Students are examined from machine tools and from forming machines separately. Each part of the examination is evaluated with the score. Based on the total score, an ECTS grade is assigned to students.
