Applied Mineralogy and Geochemistry

The aim of the subject is to give to students an overview of basic concepts in mineralogy, geochemistry and petrology. Student will introduced to basics of structure and morphology of minerals, mineralogical system furthemore to an problematics of gechemistry and petrology of magmatic, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic knowledge of structure and morphology of minerals, orientation in mineralogical system. knowledge in basic axioms of geochemistry and petrology.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge from inorganic and physical chemistry.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Oral examination (20 min preparation). Level of knowledge in mineralogy, geochemistry and petrology and methods of study is evaluated.
