The Photograpy of Art - Surface and Space

The course introduces students to the practical usage of digital photography. We will learn the basics of lighting technique and mastering of the essentials of digital photography. Students will learn to choose appropriate technological procedure and cameras for the particular task.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire the essentials of classical and digital photography, they will be able to document their artworks themselves, and potentially use photography within their own art projects.

Prerequisites

In order to enroll into the course, students have to have acquired technical and technological essentials of classical and digital photography and document an artwork, both in natural and artificial light.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

In order to obtain credits, students will have to fullfill the following assignments:

1. Self-portrait
2. The reproduction of a painting or other two-dimensional image.
the purpously wrong reproduction of an image (converging lines, view from below, view from above)
3. product photography
(glass, pottery, jewel, furniture, textile, etc) - 2 photgraphs
4. sculpture/object in exterior
(wide-angle, detail, choosing the appropriate lifght, composition, standpoint, etc) - 6 photographs
5. Interior photography - exhibition installation (3 photographs]

Mastering the basics of studio ligting and photographic technology
practical studio photography: 2D objects, 3D objects
