Course detail

CISCO Academy 2 - CCNA

FEKT-XCA2Acad. year: 2017/2018

The course XCA2 is divided into two parts. The first part is the curriculum „Scaling Networks ” (ScaN) which deals with fundamentals of scaling networks. The second part it the curriculum „Connecting Networks ” (CN) which deals with WAN technologies, virtual private networks (VPN), methods of monitoring and troubleshooting of IP networks. Laboratories include configure, analyze and troubleshooting large enterprise IT networks.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student is learnt with router configuration with RIP, (E)IGRP and OSPF protocols. Switches configuration for virtual networks (VLAN). WAN design.

Prerequisites

Students should be able to work with English literature. Knowledge of the basic principles of IP networks.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Techning methods include lectures, computer laboratories and practical laboratories. Course is taking advantage of e-learning (Moodle) system. Students have to write a single project/assignment during the course.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The student is assessed using two exams. The content of the first exam is derived from the course „Scaling Networks ” (ScaN). The content of the second exam is derived from the course „Connecting Networks ” (CN). Each exam consists of practical and theoretical parts. Both parts of the exam must be passed with at least 70%. Final classification is calculated as the average of points obtained from each part of the exam. The results of both exam are averaged, which is then converted into the BUT points.

Course curriculum

1. Introduce to scaling networks.
2. Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), First Hop Redundancy Protocols (HSRP and GLBP).
3. Channel agregation.
4. Multiarea OSPFv2 and OSPFv3 protocols.
5. EIGRP for IPv4 and IPv6.
6. Management and licencing of IOS.
7. Intoduction to WAN.
8. Connecting technologies point-to-point.
9. Frame Relay technology.
