Service and Maintenance of Machines

FSI-EPS-KAcad. year: 2016/2017

The course focuses on the latest knowledge from the operation and maintenance of machines. Emphasis is laid on models of analysis and evaluation of machinery operation as well as on estimation and determination of performance of machines and on operational costs and reliability. Students are introduced in detail to wear of technical systems and occurrence of failures. This knowledge is further applied in machinery maintenance and its assurance. Attention is paid to basic terms related to the theory of maintenance, maintenance systems and maintenance efficiency control. Besides, the problem of maintenance aimed at fault-free operation (RCM) and reengineering of maintenance are presented. Modern trends in maintenance, optimization of maintenance program, information systems in maintenance and software for maintenance control are also introduced.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Pursuant to the course contents, students will acquire broad knowledge in the field of operation and maintenance of machines, which will allow them to competently engage in solving various problems related to the area in question in industrial engineering and electrotechnic practice.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of reliability and technical diagnostics from the so-far completed bachelor-level studies is assumed.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
According to the possibility of teaching can be organized lectures for students by practitioners and excursions to companies focused on activities related to the course content.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course consists of lectures and seminars. The seminars are completed by a course-unit credit award. To achieve it, 100% presence and activity in seminars are required. Besides, a written project must be worked out, handed in and approved by the lecturer. The exam is realized in the form of a written test for which the student can obtain up to 100 points. The result of the exam is classified according to the ECTS classification scale.
