Work Experience: Management and Operation of a Sports Establishment

Students will select a sports facility of their choice in which they will do their continuous work experience training overseen by an employee. They will get to know the workplace and get actively involved in the operations of the facility. The output of this subject is written material - a seminar thesis - project, model.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The output of this subject is written material - a seminar thesis in which they will produce a characterisation of the sports facility and a model of the operational organisation of the sports facility. In it they will also evaluate their work at the sports facility, providing suggestions, innovative ideas etc. for improvements on the basis of the information they have discovered.

During this use the theoretical knowledge and practical activities from ther studies.

Exercises promote the practical mastery of subject presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit:
The graded credit requirements: active participation in the inaugural seminar, completion of the practice with written confirmation of the workplace in the range of 44.0 hours and to submit a paper of 15 pages.

The final exam and the final evaluation of the course:
Graded credit consists of participation in the introductory seminar (20%), completion of the practice in the range of 44.0 hours with confirmation (30%) and individual work tasks (50%). The total possible points: 100, the classification is as follows:
A 100 - 90 1
B 89 - 80 1,5
C 79 - 70 2
D 69 - 60 2,5
E 59 - 50 3
F 49 - 0 4

Aims

The subject is focused on the organization of a block of sports activities at a sports facility. Here, the students will put their theoretical as well as practical knowledge and skills into practice. They will learn the principles of work at a fitness centre, sports facility or sports hall, and they will improve their ability to communicate with people. Students will be involved in assisting with the preparation of sports areas for scheduled sports activities, the blocking off and reservation of places (sports areas), and they will also become acquainted with and manage single-entry accounting records of payments. The outcome of the course is a written document - essay in which student processes characteristic of sports equipment, sports service organization model and evaluates his activities in the sports equipment, give fact-based suggestions for improvement, innovation, etc.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in practical training and independent production of a seminar thesis.
