Technology of the Chemical Industry and Nuclear Energetical Plants

Basic raw-materials and sources of Chemical Industry; Reactors and Devices of Chemical industry; Production of the Inorganic and Organic Compounds, small-tonnage and high-tonnage production; Processing of the crude oil; Safety precaution at the transfer and transport of Dangerous Substances; Characteristics of the Nuclear Equipments, Operation units and used types of Nuclear Reactors; Equipment for Deposition of Radioactive Waste; Compulsory Participation at the Excursion (field trip) in the Nuclear Power Station.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Knowledge of raw-materials and products of our chemical industry and construction of nuclear power plants, knowledge of the run of nuclear equipments, disposal of radioactive waste.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. During the teaching runs a lecture and also presented by the means of the system audio-video, together with the presentation of various teaching aids. Some chapters are here presented also on the LMS Moodle.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Written test, if the evaluation is at least "sufficient"; it is possible to take an oral exam.

2. Sources of pollution, technology of protection of the environmental components
3. Basics raw-materials for chemical industry and productive equipments
4. Reactors and devices of chemical industry – inorganic chemistry
5. Reactors and devices of chemical industry – organic chemistry
6. Transport, storage, and handling of chemical substances
7. Energetic and manipulative equipments in chemical industry
8. Decontamination and sanitation of emergency states
9. Waste treatment. Machines and equipments for the processing of waste
10. Transport of dangerous substances
11. Handling of radioactive waste, equipments for the storage of radioactive waste
13. Excursion into a nuclear power station and into a chemical plant

Aims

Knowledge of raw-materials, products of chemical industry, construction of nuclear power plants, and radioactive waste. Methods of ways for dealing with health safety of workers, fires and industrial accidents.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Control test after each chapter.
