Corporate economics

The course is aimed at the core, goals and functions of a company, its property and capital, property and commitment evaluation, yields and costs, outcome of the economy and their mutual relations, cash flow and liquidity. Operational efficiency of a company, basics of financial and investment activities, economical decision-making – calculations, managerial concept of costs, budgets, relations among profit, volume of production, price and costs and tools of economical proceedings (financial accounting, analyses, internal audit) are also a part of this subject.
Further, this subject acquaints students with basic company activities such as production, purchase, personalistics, services. After completing this course, students will be able to consider and practically apply their company economics knowledge.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students gain theoretical knowledge from the field of company economy in connection with individual company activities. On the basis of gained knowledge and skills, students should be able (within the framework of their semestral work) to apply and deal with some of the company activities in a selected company and – from the practical point of view – to understand mutual economical connections within a company

Students are expected to have general economic knowledge.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is carried out through lectures and seminars. Lectures consist of interpretations of basic principles, methodology of given discipline, problems and their exemplary solutions. Seminars particularly support practical mastery of subject matter presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Expert knowledge will be tested with a written exam (max. 60).
Students’ skills will be checked with a tests, businessplan, lecture from external experet, individual work. These results can be taken into account at the final exam.

Course curriculum

Lectures:
- Introduction. Core, goals and functions of the company. Business plan. Company divison. Company surroundings.
- Deliberation. Property and capital. Working and net capital. Liquidity. Indebtedness. Optimal capital structure. Company and commitments evaluation.
- Gain and loss report. Yields and costs, economical outcome and their mutual relations.
- Operational efficiency of a company – rentability ROE, ROA, ROS, ROCE
- Economical decision-making – calculation of total costs. Relations between gain, volume of production, price and costs
- Managerial concept of costs (calculation of variable costs)
- Division of yields and costs from the point of view of the needs of management oriented at decision-making, opportunity costs
- Short-term decision-making tasks. Sensitivity analysis.
- Strategic costs management – calculation according to partial activities – method ABC
- Financial management of a company. Financial analysis. Circulating property management
- Investment management of a company – financial accounting. Costs and managerial accounting.
- Budgeting in market conditions.
- Analyses. Internal audit. Summary.

Seminars:
Every seminar is focused on practical exercising of the company economics.

Aims

Goal of the subject is to acquaint students with theoretical knowledge of the company economics. In the lectures, economical aspect of given problems is highlighted and emphasis is laid on acquiring technical terminology.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance check is carried out on the basis of completing a test and other
requirements. In case of excused absence in a seminar, teacher can set an alternate condition, usually elaboration of a substitute task.

Syllabus

1. Požadavky ke zkoušce. Podstata podniku a podnikání. Právní úprava podnikání. Okolí podniku. Typy podniků. Postavení podniku v globalizovaném světě, vliv globalizace na organizační strukturu, postavení podniku v ekonomice EU. Právní forma podnikání.
2. Reprodukční proces podniku a jeho složky. Rozvaha. Majetková a kapitálová struktura podniku a hodnota kapitálu. Fundamentální analýza. Bilanční analýza a teorie.
3. Oceňování ve finančním účetnictví. Oceňování -základní pojmy, právní úprava, oceňování jednotlivých položek majetku – hmotný, nehmotný, zásoby, pohledávky.
4. Ekonomické řízení podniku. Hospodárnost, ekonomická efektivnost, ekonomická účinnost, pojetí nákladů a výnosů ve finančním účetnictví, zjišťování výsledku hospodaření, cash flow.
5. Řízení nákladů, kalkulační metody – přirážková, variabilních nákladů, dynamická kalkulace, metody stanovení tvorby cen.
6. Finanční řízení podniku. Zdroje vnějšího a vnitřního financování. Standardní metody analýzy výkonnosti podniku, analýza rentability, finanční stability, hospodářské aktivity.
7. Hodnocení ekonomické výkonnosti podniku. Balanced Scorecard, alternativní kategorie zisku, využití EVA pro hodnocení výkonnosti.
8. Investice a dlouhodobé financování v podniku. Rozpočty kapitálových výdajů, hodnocení ekonomické efektivnosti investic, investiční rozhodování, analýza rizik.
9.Oceňování podniku. Postup při oceňování podniku, metody majetkové,výnosové modely, tržní ,EVA.
10. Produkční proces v podniku. Efektivnost procesů, zásoby materiálu a využití časových fondů, environmentálně řízení v podniku.
11. Personální problematika v podniku. Obsah a cíle personální práce, organizace, mzdový systém v podniku, mzdové formy.
12. Podnikové finanční účetnictví. Podvojné účetnictví, vnitropodnikové účetnictví. Rozbory a statistika. Rozpočetnictví.
13. Vnitřní a vnější audit podniku. Shrnutí.
