Characteristics of organic reactions, reaction schemes. Classification of organic compounds: hydrocarbons, derivatives of hydrocarbons. Principles of nomenclature in organic chemistry.
Macromolecular chemistry and its place in polymer science. Base definition, conditions of originating macromolecules. Definition and types of monomers. Structure and nomenclature of polymers. Size and distribution of polymer molecules. Aggregation states and supramolecular structure. Step growth polymerization: polycondensation and step growth polyaddition. Chain polymerization: radical, ionic and coordination polyadditions. Copolymerization. Important industrial polymers: production technologies, properties & applications. Rheology and processing of polymers.
